The opportunity

The Reporting and Tool Analyst position is responsible for tool creation and maintenance, creating reports, performing ad hoc analyses, and providing data driven recommendations across Cascale’s membership, operations, and Higg Index suite of tools. This is a full-time role, reporting directly to the Director of Higg Index Product, with a planned start date of March / April 2024.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and support survey specifications
    • Work with Higg Index subject matter experts to update and maintain survey specifications written in a domain specific language (DSL) used to update platform surveys
    • Work with technology partner Worldly to update and extend survey management DSL
  • Create and manage operational reporting for Cascale’s teams
    • Perform reporting and analysis work Cascale’s internal needs including finance, operations and membership engagement Work with domain subject matter experts to identify key performance metrics and operationally significant measures
    • Manage a reporting platform and create on-platform reports to expose metrics and measures to business partners
    • Train staff on report usage and work to continually improve content and presentation
  • Support Cascale’s work streams with ad hoc insights and analysis
    • Work with Cascale’s staff to understand ongoing projects and commitments and identify areas of analysis that could drive value through informed decision making
    • Communicate with external stakeholders and partners to identify where Cascale can (or can’t help) with additional insight
    • Do the analysis and data exploration necessary to generate project supporting insights
  • Work with the Cascale’s teams toward the achievement of the Cascale’s Strategic Plan.
    • Assist with complementary goals, such as tool linking and member engagement.
    • Help create discussion points for Strategic Council and additional Member Expert presentations
    • Join member and staff calls and share your perspective
    • Speak up if anything is not going well or you notice a new risk
  • Other
    • Be respectful of your colleague’s time with internal meetings and consider the efficiency of every internal meeting
    • Use your manager’s time well with clear and concise updates and organized check-in meetings

Key Duties / Tasks

  • Maintain, test, and build tools in domain specific language. Manage and build workflow automations for tool development
  • Work with Cascale subject matter experts to design, refine, and expose KPIs and key operational measures
  • Create and manage reports based on data stored in relational databases like Postgres and exposed in cloud based reporting solutions
  • Perform ad hoc analyses on disparate data sources using Excel, SQL, and other data analysis tools/languages to power business decisions and inform external reports
  • Work with Cascale members and other stakeholders to drive industry insights using Higg Index data
  • Working with the entire Higg Index Team toward the achievement of the Cascale Strategic Plan.
 

Qualifications and Experience

Ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor's or domain relevant professional degree
  • 2 years functional experience in analytics, software, or automation
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively learn new programming languages with 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least two programming languages besides SQL
  • Experience working with teams through git or other version control systems
  • Experience or interest in consumer product industry and/or sustainability - preferred
  • Fluent in SQL - aware of multiple dialects, use analytics functions where appropriate,  and capable of optimizing queries
  • Fluent with at least one common data processing/visualization language including Python, R, Julia, or Javascript
  • Familiarity with common data processing architectures and common cloud providers
  • Basic familiarity with agile development and other software management processes
  • Fluent in the English language, verbal and  written 
  • Willingness to learn and stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
 

Compensation, and Location

The Cascale offers a compensation package. Cascale’s members and partners are global organizations, and as such, our staff sometimes work early or late hours. This position is preferably based in the EMEA region or North America.  Please note that you will have to be eligible to live and work in the regions specified.
